As part of privacy measures for this official app and in line with the limited publication agreement for this product, this case study has been modified. Brand names, product names, colors, design styles, and key features have been adjusted, but the use cases and user needs remain similar.

BACKGROUND
Vehicle theft is a major issue in Indonesia, with many stolen vehicles never being recovered due to inefficient reporting and tracking mechanisms. Victims often struggle to find their stolen vehicles because of a lack of a centralized, accessible system. The police force, on the other hand, faces difficulties in managing stolen vehicle reports, verifying claims, and updating recovered vehicle statuses.
The solution is to develop a website platform where the police department can publish stolen vehicle details in a structured, searchable format. Owners can easily search for their vehicles, verify data, and initiate a claim process directly through the platform.
PROBLEM FINDING
1. Lack of a Centralized Stolen Vehicle Database
Problem
Currently, there is no unified digital platform where police departments can publish stolen vehicle details in real time. Many regions still rely on fragmented databases, local police reports, or word-of-mouth, making it difficult for owners to search for their vehicles.
Impact
Vehicle owners struggle to track stolen vehicles across different regions.
Police officers face difficulty cross-referencing stolen vehicle data from different jurisdictions.
Stolen vehicles may be recovered but remain unclaimed due to lack of visibility.
No Easy Search & Verification Process for Owners
Problem
Vehicle owners who have lost their vehicle do not have a simple way to check if their stolen vehicle has been recovered. They often have to visit police stations or browse through unreliable third-party sources.
Impact
Owners face frustration and stress due to the lack of transparency.
Many recovered vehicles remain unclaimed for months because the owners are unaware of their status.
Fraudulent claims may arise due to the lack of a proper ownership verification system.

DESIGN STRATEGIES
User-Friendly Platform for All
Design an intuitive platform that is accessible for all user types in Indonesia, using a focused, distraction-free interface and a clear, action-oriented user flow.
Simplified Report & Claim Forms
Create simple, easy-to-fill report and claim forms with concise input fields, clear labels, and no unnecessary complexity to prevent user confusion.
Instant Status Tracking Without Login
Develop a tracking ID system that allows users to check their vehicle status instantly without requiring login or account registration.
Clear and Actionable UX Writing
Design informative UX writing to clearly show vehicle status—such as not found, found, or ready for claim—along with simple next-step guidance.
Credibility-Driven Landing Page
Build a landing page that highlights platform credibility through stories, media support, visual data on stolen vehicles, and recovered vehicle statistics.
UX FLOW MAPPING
I designed a user flow that maps the end-to-end journey based on user needs, covering key actions such as searching for, reporting, and claiming a stolen vehicle.

THE SOLUTION
Solution 1: Easy Vehicle Reporting
✨
This feature allows users to report their stolen vehicle easily by simply filling out a form with their personal information based on their vehicle registration (STNK), national ID (KTP), and contact details—without the need to sign in or create an account. The platform is designed to accommodate users who may not be tech-savvy.
Solution 2: Quick Search with Tracking Number
✨
By entering a tracking number into the "Find Now" form, users can instantly check the status of their stolen vehicle. The system will automatically display whether the vehicle has been found and guide the user on the next steps for claiming it.
Solution 3: Simple Claim Process
✨
To claim a recovered vehicle, users only need to enter their ID number and vehicle registration details. The process is supported by a unique Claim Number and QR Code, along with clear instructions, making it easy to retrieve the vehicle from the police station where it is stored.
Solution 4: Real-Time Claim and Report Tracking
✨
With the Tracking Report and Claim Tracking features, users can monitor the status of their reported or claimed vehicles—whether the vehicle has been found or if the claim has been verified and is ready for pickup.
Solution 5: Informative & Credible Homepage
✨
The homepage provides users with easy-to-understand visual insights, including vehicle theft statistics, high-risk areas, theft-prone locations, and recent related news. This reinforces the platform's credibility and presents it as a trustworthy, hopeful solution for victims of vehicle theft.
THE FINAL DESIGN
The final design addresses four critical user needs and incorporates inclusive design principles to ensure accessibility across diverse user groups.
This is a refined end-user adaptation that I developed, informed by benchmarks, data sources, and user research conducted during my team’s involvement in developing the official platform for administrative users. While the original platform was not designed for end users, its data and technological foundation supports the feasibility of this concept for future real-world implementation.
